metricviews.uk/2013/06/07/was-the-metre-invented-by-the-ancient-egyptians-4500-years-ago/I know there's some interest in ancient archeology etc here. I watched a documentary last night which was one of the better ones. Alot of it circulated around math and geometry relating to ancient sites and their relationship to each other. What really blew my mind was as they measured some carved stonework with embossed crosses with lazars....it was all to the centimetre. Anyway, above link was best similar info in could find.

The spaceship is scheduled to rise from the great pyramid's depths at the 2024 planetary conjunction. An intersteller 4th of July ... just before the planet gets fried.

www.inverse.com/innovation/melting-mongolian-ice-archaeology/ampAs an archaeologist, I value these snow and ice patches for the rare peek they can provide back in time through the fog of alpine prehistory. When people lose objects in the ice, ice patches act as natural deep freezers. For thousands of years, they can store snapshots of the culture, daily life, technology, and behavior of the people who created these artifacts. F

It has always perplexed me that the greatest genetic diversity in humans occurs within people in Eastern Africa. Most likely due to a bottleneck caused by the Toba eruption and a theorized volcanic winter. It is counterintuitive that a person from China and another from Ireland are genetically more similar than two people living in the same village in Eastern Africa. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.04.06.028050v1.full.pdf

Lake Toba is enormous. Can you imagine the size of that eruption? That was a lot of rock displaced.

I need to follow up on this for some of the YDNA age work we are doing. As regards the genetic similarity of East Asian and Western European population genetics, archealogy and fossil genetics may suggest that outmigration from the Steppe may have gone both directions. Very early R males are found in the deep valleys around Lake Baikel perhaps 100K YBP. These R peoples are believed to have moved westward onto the Pontic Steppe as the climate warmed ... with further westward expansion into Europe at later dates. The eastward backmigration from the steppe is postulated to have occurred before the move into western Europe. I'll have to check this again, but I remember seeing references to Native N American population genetics being more similar to Steppe people than to other asians. But my memory could be faulty. It may also be that East African human populations were larger than those of the northern regions and perhaps Toba had a greater effect on the northern populations. Larger populations equal more births and more genetic mutations.

was also the ice age so the region would have had a bit of rain and cloud and trees.
