Here is a guy who has some interesting forecasts about where we going and why. I have heard some before, but he melds them into an interesting thesis. There are others as well. He seems popular of late. Non what do you think of his forecast for Russian oil?
And a more detailed one just out ... What will the World Look Like in Five Years?

The origin of certain words would make an interesting story. "Con" generally means ... In opposition or disagreement; against. Thus, conscience is literally ... against science. But is generally used to bring "morality" (right or wrong) into the equation. Science is generally defined as "any system of knowledge that is concerned with the physical world and its phenomena and that entails unbiased observations and systematic experimentation. In general, a science involves a pursuit of knowledge covering general truths or the operations of fundamental laws."
Thus many of the characters involved in this story are, by definition, not "scientists". Nor do they seem to have "a conscience". Therefore, all we are left with is "the Con". Logic is so useful.

Don't count on it. The dumber they are, the more convinced they are that they couldn't possibly be wrong.
I hope that this little exposition helps Reilly Neill and the real scientists of Montana understand the causes of the recent variations in Montana’s glaciers.

I think she's being charitable and polite with no real expectations for change. These cycles are multi generational in length, so nobody is proved right or wrong until long after they've left the stage.

Sometimes science fiction can mirror history, the present or the future. Issac Asimov's Nightfall is a good read anytime ... but does it vaguely sound familiar? I think we know some of these people.

What could possibly go wrong here? I didn’t make it all the way through…I’m allergic to insanity.
