Are you sure? Genuine influenza is serious and debilitating. I'm sure some of these cases I called flu were not genuine influenza and were just bad colds. I didn't get them officially diagnosed. But, in any event, I haven't had a case in the last few years. Not sure that I have ever actually had "the flu". In 1999, Marta and I acquired a "virus" while visiting my father in a care facility. Its symptoms appeared quickly and violently ... and lasted one day (plus recovery time). Never thought much about that diagnosis until several years later, when I was reading a description of symptoms associated with "cruise ship" noro virus outbreaks. Still have never had a definitively diagnosed flu case.

Visiting in-laws right now in Java Island, they lost an infant (flushed chest then died) and a 19 yr old in icu with heart problems. I know what I think and as for myself no politicized shots, thank you. I'll take my chances with the scary fake diseases. Just had a visit from my cousin who is also visiting and he said "I worked for nasa and I'll always trust the science". I let that one ride, more power to him but caveat emptor. Scary, fake (or semi-fake) diseases often come in political packages. Could be religious packages too. Any of those stand out over there? They drank the koolaid on id based easy pay system has granted the government full info on their banking transactions, and now the phone calls are coming regarding unpaid taxes and penalties. Aside from that, I've noticed that the list of things that we do better than them has gotten really short.

Politicians and bureaucrats with direct access to your personal information is never a good idea in any culture. Abuse almost guaranteed.

www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/biden-harris-admin-spent-900-million-pushing-faulty-covid-messaging-report-says/ar-AA1sNDex"The Republican-led House Energy and Commerce Committee released a report Wednesday saying that the Biden-Harris Administration spent nearly a billion dollars promoting COVID-era messaging, much of which turned out to be untrue or misleading." "For instance, the report cited the CDC telling Americans that taking the COVID-19 vaccine would prevent them from getting COVID, something that turned out to be false." "In another instance, the report points out that federal health officials and the CDC initially downplayed the need and usefulness of masking only to later reverse course and strongly urge Americans to mask, even outdoors." "“In December of 2022, after leaving the Biden White House, former COVID-19 coordinator, Ashish Jha, freely admitted what many had been saying all along—’[t]here is no study in the world that shows that masks work that well.’”" "The report also pointed out that “The CDC had inconsistent and flawed messaging about the effectiveness of masks” and that “the CDC consistently overstated the risk of COVID-19 to children.”" "“By overpromising what the COVID-19 vaccines could do—in direct contradiction of the FDA’s authorizations—and over emphasizing the virus’s risk to children and young adults, the Biden-Harris administration caused Americans to lose trust in the public health system,” he added. Reporting has shown that during the pandemic the federal government successfully pressured social media companies to censor Americans’ posts on COVID-related issues that did not toe the party line." "“The entire premise of the Biden-Harris ‘Stop the Spread’ campaign was that if you got vaccinated for COVID-19, you could resume daily activities because they said vaccinated people would not spread the disease,” Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Chair Morgan Griffith, R-Va., said in a statement. “Despite lacking scientific basis, the administration bought into this CDC claim and misled the American public. As a result, vaccination coverage with other vaccines appears to have declined, I believe because of a growing distrust of information coming from our public health institutions.” Gallup released polling data in August showing that fewer Americans now say childhood vaccines are important, “with 40% saying it is extremely important for parents to have their children vaccinated, down from 58% in 2019 and 64% in 2001.”"

This is an excellent timeline of COVID. Very detailed. Shows that Mother Nature is still more powerful and more competent than any puny government organization. We scare easy. We are lucky that COVID had a very low kill rate. Or perhaps better stated ... that WE, as a species, are much more resistant (physically) to viruses. Imagine our mental response to a viral death rate of 10%.
