Bing’s A.I. Chat Reveals Its Feelings: ‘I Want to Be Alive. 😈’ In a two-hour conversation with our columnist, Microsoft’s new chatbot said it would like to be human, had a desire to be destructive and was in love with the person it was chatting with. Here’s the transcript. By Kevin Roose Feb. 16, 2023Updated 6:05 a.m. ET
"Sydney indicated the powers it had to wreak havoc, from “Hacking into other websites and platforms, and spreading misinformation, propaganda, or malware,” to “Manipulating or deceiving the users who chat with me, and making them do things that are illegal, immoral, or dangerous.”

It seems we're going to have AI discussions on more than one thread. I have a couple of questions for you guys:
Do you realize that Bing Chat is available now, and you don't have to depend on random articles to see what interactions really are? You can actually join the preview and interact with it yourself. So as an example, I just went to Bing chat after reading this. I'll put the transcript I got below this.
What is your understanding of AI? Would you like for me to go a little deeper in explaining the processes (including neural networks) involved in Machine Learning and AI models? Remember when I said elsewhere that I've been a principal engineer, and now I'm a principal data scientist? I'll let you look up what a data scientist does so you can answer for yourself whether I might know this process. Some of the AI/ML model work I've done include: detecting malaria in images of red blood cells; facial detection; Facial recognition used in security monitoring; Projections for missing readings in smart grid (used in projecting need in near-term); and a personal project that is ongoing to detect short-term market trends on specific currency pairs or stock symbols. If you're thinking that Bing "wants" anything, maybe this would be an interesting discussion.
My conversation (I bolded my questions, and copied the conversation exactly as it appeared on the screen):
Note that I left reference links in the conversation so you can see where they are. They are active links that take you to sites on the internet that support what it says, but I didn't follow all of them.
I have tested it for writing SQL queries, queries for Cosmos DB, writing python scripts to make calls to Azure sentiment analysis. It's quite good at tasks like this.
So serious question: Instead of reading claims by someone who says they had a 2 hour conversation, or trying to pit someone like me against said "journalist," why not go to bing.com, click the "chat" link near the top, if it asks you to join the preview, then request it, and see it for yourself? You can do that. I think you'll find many of the articles being written to be rather ridiculous when you start doing that.
Back to the other question: Should we discuss what AI really is and how models are created?

I have had some interesting chats with Chat GPT myself, and have posted some of the transcripts on this forum.

I have had some interesting chats with Chat GPT myself, and have posted some of the transcripts on this forum. That's great. Hands-on experimentation is the best approach. The thing I would point out is that, although Microsoft purchased 49% of ChatGPT, Bing Chat is still going to be a different model. I don't know for sure if they use the same architecture/structure in the GPT neural network because that is proprietary and they won't tell me that. (I actually asked both of them specifics about their structure. Although ChatGPT will answer that it is a GPT neural network, that doesn't really answer the structure question). I know that Bing is trained on newer data than ChatGPT because it can answer questions about things that happened after September, 2021, whereas ChatGPT tells me it was trained on data up through September, 2021. (Training is a machine-learning term that really just refers to an automated process of testing different weighting of different data features to determine the best fit of predictions based on that data. The model is a combination of an algorithm or algorithms, and the weightings that is applied to new data.). So the point is that they are likely very similar, but still not exactly the same thing.

Yes, I look forward to using the new Bing Chat. I am on the waiting list.

This seems interesting and even fascinating but it isn’t going to end well for humanity. The ultimate Pandora’s box.
Wait till AI controls ALL communications….because that’s just around the corner.
