Looks like I need a miracle for an April 30th breakup. Ratty, I agree with Mr. Glenn. I've been told by my Doc to give up alcohol, meat and caffeine, and my response has been, "I've got a short while to go, Doc. I'd rather enjoy an abbreviated life then suffer the misery of the ascetic."

I'd rather enjoy an abbreviated life then suffer the misery of the ascetic." I can tell you that it's not all that bad .... once I accepted the fact that I had a problem. I can drink zero alcohol beer (which is, surprisingly, not bad!). Decaffeinated tea and coffee are 'OK' and I've become used to having no sugar. A glass of 2022 vintage tap water with notes of forest floor, chlorine and fluoride is fine too. Chocolate isn't a problem because I wasn't much of a sweet tooth. I do miss spicy food but ..... beggars can't be choosers. PS: I retain one bottle of a fine red in a cupboard as a test of will.  |
