Ice thickness was 50.5 inches. on April 4 (Will it beat the record?) On the record high in 2013 the ice thickness was 50.3 on April 15 (Breakout date May 20) www.nenanaakiceclassic.com/ (Scroll down for web cam)

Ice thickness April 14 2024 was 43 inches Ice thickness April 15 2013 was 50 inches
Looks like we are unlikely to break that 2013 record of May 20th. I think Walnut may be this year's winner

Sig, These are the latest reports on the Nenana Site
April 23rd, 2024 Update:
There is flowing water along the side of the Tanana River, the Nenana River has completely opened up, we expect to see the ice to go out on the Tanana fairly quickly. We are no longer taking Ice Measurements because the thickness of the integrity of the ice, it is slushy all through. The Tripod still stands and our clock mechanism was hooked up on the 18th in preparation of the Tripod heading down river. We Will Update This Page As Changes Occur With The Ice.
April 25th, 2024 Update:
As of 4/25, the Tripod is still standing on the Tanana river. There are 2 open channels of flowing water in front of the Tripod. One is close to the dock and one began upriver from the Tripod in the center of the river. The Nenana is entirely open and is eating away at the Tanana river, downriver from the Tripod. Lots of ice rot throughout and small areas of water flowing.
